The English Modern School is registered as a Cambridge International Centre for IGCSE. It follows Cambridge regulations and aims to:
- develop a modern curriculum
- promote international understanding
- encourage good teaching practice
- provide rewarding experiences for students
- set widely recognized standards
The IGCSE program is designed to encourage high academic standards through a practical approach to teaching and learning. IGCSE is internationally recognized as being equivalent in standard to the British GCSE and International GCE O level examinations.
IGCSE has widespread international credibility as an educational qualification. This recognition is based on:
- Its high profile amongst English-medium international schools around the world
- Its reputation as a rigorous program that encourages high academic standards
- Its acceptance by Universities and Colleges around the world
- IGCSE English as a Second Language at Grade C or above is recognized by all British Universities and many in USA, Canada and Australia, as evidence of adequate competence in the English Language for University admission for higher studies.
IGCSE examination sessions occur twice in a year, in May/June and November, with results published in August and February respectively. The English Modern School conducts its examinations in May/June every year.
Examination Result Grades
A nine point scale of grades is issued to the students according to the marks scored in the examination. The Grades are:
A+, A, B, C, D, E, F, G and U.
Grade G indicates minimum satisfactory performance.
Grade U indicates failure to meet the minimum satisfactory marks.
Graduation certificates are distributed at the graduation ceremony and the best student is honoured with momentous.***
